Washougal is a city in Clark County, Washington. The city is located 18 miles (29 km) east of Vancouver on SR 14 and located in the Columbia River Gorge along the Washougal River, which runs through town. Washougal is a short 20-minute drive from the Portland International Airport.

Washougal was officially incorporated on December 4, 1908. Its Mount Pleasant Grange Hall is the oldest continually used grange hall in Washington. This small tight-knit community sits on the Washington side of the Columbia River, its lowlands and famous prairie are to the west of the entrance to the scenic Columbia River Gorge. Approaching Washougal from the west on the Lewis & Clark Highway, Mount Hood rises above the Cascade Mountains, framed by the cliffs that announce you have reached the gateway to the Columbia River Gorge. It is home to Excelsior High School and Washougal High School.

Bordered by the Columbia and Washougal Rivers, the Washougal area is filled with many family-friendly parks, hiking trails, businesses and neighborhoods. Downtown Washougal plays host to many community events all year around. Main Street is in close proximity to the Pendleton Woolen Mills Outlet Store, Washougal Town Square, and the Two Rivers Heritage Museum.

Residents enjoy year-round recreation including, hiking, birding, kayaking, fishing and swimming. Favorite local spots include Marina Park, where visitors can stroll the walking paths, picnic on a table or under a tree or overlook the busy marina. Steamboat Landing has levee trails that lead to Captain William Clark Park at Cottonwood Beach. The park has 85 acres of walk paths, picnic tables and covered cooking areas. And Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge, features 1,049 acres with more than 200 species of birds having been recorded there to date.
