Troutdale is a city in Multnomah County, Oregon, located immediately north of Gresham and east of Wood Village. The city serves as the western gateway to the Historic Columbia River Highway, the Mount Hood Scenic Byway, and the Columbia River Gorge. It is approximately 12 miles (19 km) east of Portland.

Troutdale is known as the Gateway to the Gorge for recreation. The city is a major hub for outdoor activities in the area. Ideally located the city shares its eastern border with a five-mile stretch of the Sandy River. The Columbia River is on the north end of the city and turns west to form most of the border between Washington and Oregon before emptying into the Pacific Ocean. City Residents enjoy year-round access to the water, and local activities include, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, rafting, fishing and kiteboarding. About an hours drive away is the Mt. Hood National Forest, where an outdoor enthusiast will find an endless list of recreational activities that include, snowboarding, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and backpacking.

Troutdale has close ties to Portland and its largest neighboring suburb, Gresham, and the nearby cities of Sandy and Corbett. Many of Troutdale's residents commute to Gresham or Portland for work but Troutdale has has all the amenities within its city limits including, outlet malls, McMenamins Edgefield, local shops and restaurants and local tourist attractions.
