St. Helens Real Estate

St. Helens is the county seat of Columbia County, Oregon. It was founded by Captain Henry Montgomery Knighton, a native of New England, in 1845, as "Plymouth". The name was changed to St. Helens in the latter part of 1850 for its view of Mount St. Helens, roughly 39 miles (63 km) away in Washington.
St. Helens is located eighty-six river miles from the Pacific Ocean and sits at the confluence of the river and Multnomah Channel, less than three hundred yards from the northern tip of Sauvie Island. Both Highway 30 and a railroad freight line between Portland and Astoria divide the town a mile and a half from the river.

With more than 60 miles of Columbia River shoreline, country roads, forested hills and quiet bays, Columbia County, is the perfect town for birders, cyclists, anglers and other nature lovers.
