Silverton Real Estate

Silverton is a city in Marion County, Oregon. The city is situated along the 45th parallel about 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Salem, in the eastern margins of the broad alluvial plain of the Willamette Valley. The city is named after Silver Creek, which flows through the town from Silver Falls into the Pudding River, and then into the Willamette River. Silverton was originally called Milford, then Silver Creek; on July 16, 1855, Silver Creek became Silverton.

Silverton is steeped in local history, surrounded by nature, and nestled between Salem and the Cascade Mountains. Less than 30 minutes from downtown Salem, Oregon, the picturesque town of Silverton is a small town with an historic downtown area filled with local, one-of-a-kind businesses, well-maintained homes, public art and outdoor murals that can be found on almost every corner. The city lives side-by-side with nature, as easily as the peaceful Silver Creek flows gently through town. Silver Silver Falls State Park is 9,200 acres, and the state’s largest state park; the “crown jewel” of the Oregon State Park system. The park boasts 10 waterfalls, breathtaking scenery, and more than 25 miles of backcountry trails for mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding.

Silverton is the location of the Oregon Garden, an 80-acre botanical wonderland featuring 20 specialty gardens, a showcase of the diverse vegetation of the Pacific Northwest and is home to Oregon’s only Frank Lloyd Wright designed structure, the Gordon House.
