Sherwood, Oregon Real Estate

Sherwood is a city in Washington County, Oregon. Located in the southeast corner of the county, it is a residential community in the Tualatin Valley, southwest of Portland. Sherwood was first incorporated in 1893 as a town. Originally named Smockville after its founder, James Christopher Smock, the town was given its current name by local businessman Robert Alexander in 1891, who likely named it after his hometown of Sherwood, Michigan.

Sherwood,Oregon is steeped in tradition, and is just minutes away from the college town of Newberg and within a short drive to the City of Portland. Historic Old Town Sherwood is the community center of this small, growing city, where antique, specialty shops, and historic buildings reflect small-town living from another era.

Popular gathering places, such as locally owned coffeehouses, restaurants, bakeries, a wine tasting bar and a community performing arts center, make Sherwood an ideal place to live, work and enjoy life at a slower pace.
